George Giddens' Cemetery likely started as a cemetery of enslaved people. Around 1910, George Giddens purchased over 150 acres of land that already included several burials. George Giddens a house near Old Auburn Road and continued to allow burials in his backyard for those in the community who could not afford a burial in the segregated section of Rosemere Cemetery.
